BOARD/MEMBERSHIP MEETING
SUMMARY OF February 15 2012 minutes
Members present: George Jones, Jim Moose, Stefan Hayes, Donna Huber, Jo Ross, Lorraine Mullikin, Claudia Moose, Betsy Adams.
The minutes from the January 2012 Meeting were approved.
OLD BUSINESS
There will be a Maysville "Art Explosion" the weekend of August 17-18 2012 in downtown Maysville. On Friday August 17 the emphasis will be on art activities for children grades 4 to 8. High school art students will be assisting with activities. It is planned that ORVAG Artists will be demonstrating painting, pottery making, and photography. Saturday August 18, the children are encouraged to bring any adults that would like to see their work.
Ken Swinson expressed concern about the hot or inclement weather. Claudia emphsized that this project is still in the planning stage.
New Business
1. The Pat Breslin Watercolor Workshop will be presented by Professor Li from Morehead State University. He will be teaching out to paint portraits. The sessions are two Fridays, April 20 and 27 and one Sunday afternoon to be determined. The cost is $ 165.2. The Critique Sessions with the Augusta Art Guild will restart March 29 , 2012 with the first meeting in Augusta at 6 p.m.. Thereafter they will be the last Thursday of the month at alternating locations with the April 26 meeting at our facility. Lorraine Mullikin volunteered to assist with the critiques as needed when we are the hosts.
3) Carolyn Boatman will be leading a Quilt Barn Workshop on March 13, 20 and April 3 from 10-3. Register with Carolyn directly at cboatman@isoc.net or 606-735 -9914.
4) Jim Moose reported that he had gone to Frankfurt earlier in the month to receive $ 500 from a total grant of $ 1000, awarded to ORVAG by the Kentucky Arts Council. The remaining $ 500 should be received in July. Both our Representative and Senator attended the award ceremony.
5) Dick Huber is still checking on a mobile unit for artists to have for traveling and displayint gheir art for art shows and other art oriented activities.
